2010 Carnival Calabar Theme Unveiled

As part of activities to mark the annual Calabar Christmas festival, the theme for the 2010 Calabar Carnival was recently unveiled in Calabar. In a colourful ceremony which also featured the prize presentation of Five Million Naira to Sen. Florence Ita Giwa , leader of the Seagulls Band,  and Mrs. Margret Agibe , representative of  the Passion 4 Band, who were the tie winners of the 2009 edition of the Carnival.

Dignitaries at the occasion included; H.E Sen. Liyel Imoke the Cross River State Governor, the wife of the Governor, H.E  Mrs. Obioma Imoke,  His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V; the Obong of Calabar and the Representative of MD First Bank, Mr Onche Ugbagbe as well as leaders and members of other competing bands, captains of industry and the general public.

The 2010 Carnival theme, Our Strength and Resilience; the bedrock of our future, would be interpreted by the bands through their costumes, choreography and truck decorations.

  1. Culture is an integral part of our existence as africans. It brings nostalgic feelings of trauma and pains that our fore fathers went through in d colonial days.
    But it could also serve as a big tourism channel and source of foreign exchange.
    Most importantly, it could bridge d gap and bring about peace in Nigeria, africa and the
    world all over.
