Calabar Festival:Review of Week 5 Events

Shaggy at Calabar Rocks!

Being the last week of the Calabar Festival, the week 5 was a bee hive providing the last opportunity for people to get the fun that comes with the festival. The week was ushered in by the long awaited Carnival Calabar- Africa’s biggest street party,which was billed to commence at 2.p.m the crowd were already gathering at the carnival route as early as 10.a.m. to get a glimpse of the excitement.

The next day was the biggest anticipated act of the Festival’s Calabar Rocks Show, fans troop into the U. J Esuene Stadium as early as 4.pm.m to await the arrival of SHAGGY and watch him step on the Calabar stage. But this night was not all shaggy as we had Nyore, the songstress perform, after which the stage was mounted by Naija’s hottest Twins P-Square who made the crowd loose control in all of their songs, they energetically peformed for one hour 30 minutes and still got the crowd begging for more.

The night drew near and the thigh high, when Shaggy stepped on the stage thrilling fan with all his hit tracks but the most captivating of especially for the ladies, was “Strength of a Woman”

The Destiny Child’s Centre [DCC]  fashion show  aimed at rasing funds to sustain the is a rehabilitation centre was also held in this week and the mother of all the mucsical performances was the MOHHITS night on the 3oth which made  way for  reglious passover night on the 31st  ushering in the year 2011!
